Karissa Fjeldheim - '16   Karissa is a Freshman at the University of Iowa studying Instrumental Music Education.  Karissa spent five years playing with the Heelan Band as she was brought up to play with the Jazz Band her 8th grade year.  She auditioned for All-State on Bass Trombone her Freshman and Sophomore years and was selected as an All-State vocalist her Junior and Senior years.  Karissa served the band as a section leader in concert and jazz band and was the drum major in her Senior year.  In addition to trombone, Karissa also plays piano, accompanying fellow students in solo and ensemble pieces.  She is expected to graduate from Iowa in 2020.

  Christian Pratt - '14   Christian was involved in the Bishop Heelan Band all four years of high school. He participated in concert band, marching band (2 years as drum major), jazz band (tenor/alto saxophone), and musical pit band. Christian was accepted to the NWI Honor Band all four years, and was first alternate for All-State his senior year. He is currently a junior at Loyola University Chicago double majoring in Biology and Music.  Mr. Pratt studies clarinet under Cory Tiffin, and is a member of the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Rick Lowe. Outside of class, Christian is a member of the Band of Wolves, Loyola’s pep band for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and serves as clarinet section leader and assistant conductor. He will be graduating in 2018 and hopes to attend optometry school after his undergraduate studies.
